GHINA YAMOUT, BOARD MEMBER

Dr Yamout possesses a PhD in Sustainable Water Resources Management under Risk and Uncertainty (University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, 2005), MS in Environmental Technology (American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon, 2002), and BS (Chemistry, American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon, 1999).
Dr. Yamout’s interest lies in the interconnectivity of communities, environment, infrastructure, and economic growth. She believes in the sustainable growth of resilient communities through equitable, responsible, and inclusive planning of various elements that ensures the thriving of our society and planet, such as water, energy, transportation, industrial growth, and ecosystem and community services.
Dr. Yamout has 20 years of experience working for private consulting (currently CDM Smith) and the public sector. Her expertise includes water resources and water quality resiliency and sustainability programs assisting clients in solving water supply and water quality challenges, meeting regulatory requirements, and evaluating opportunities for equity-driven multi-benefit regional projects, under conditions of risk and uncertainty, such as climate change. This includes expertise in water supply and demand management, integrated watershed management, stormwater management, water reuse, large-scale environmental restoration programs, as well as urban water management planning, including One Water master planning, risk assessments, ESG and sustainability metrics, and water rights, with extensive internal and external coordination.
Dr. Yamout also enjoys her time mentoring younger adults as they figure out their path. She is active in multiple professional and community organizations where she has led organization of conferences and events and served as a moderator, panelist, and speaker, including being the immediate Past Board President (2018-2023), Arab American Association of Engineers and Architects – CA Chapter (AAAEA-CA) and immediate Past Co-Chair (2016-2018 and 2021-2023) and Council Member (current), LA Metro Sustainability Council.
