The Lebanese-American Coordination Committee (LACC) considered that the approval of the extension law for the leaders of the security services in the House of Representatives last week “breaks the spiral of vacuum, and is an essential step towards electing a president of the republic with the greatest degree of national consensus.” Therefore, “the Lebanese in the diaspora support the House of Representatives for this work in support of Lebanon’s sovereignty.”
In a statement, the committee said: “On December 15, the House of Representatives broke the spiral of vacuum, and the nation’s representatives preserved the military and security establishment in Lebanon. We, the Lebanese-American Coordination Committee (LACC), support every action undertaken by Lebanese representatives in order to ensure that there is no vacuum in the Country’s institutions.”
The statement added: “This extension of the army commander and the leaders of the security services is support for all state institutions and an important step to complete the regularity of the state’s role.”
The statement also noted what it called “this breaking of the vacuum cycle is an essential step towards electing a president of the republic with the greatest degree of national consensus.”
The statement ended by saying: “The Lebanese diaspora support the House of Representatives for this action in support of Lebanon’s sovereignty.”
